There are many kinds of salad, this is a basic green or greenish salad; you start with ‘a good lettuce’and a bunch of rocket or watercress , and then add whatever else you want.

I chose an ordinary round lettuce, produced in Lancashire and watercress, but unfortunately it was in a packet from Spain, so much for good intentions.  Sam enjoyed washing the leaves and tossing the salad, and he picked carrots and apples for his additions, which I cut each up very small.  Sam also enjoyed making the dressing (French, except lime juice instead of vinegar), and I served it with crinkle cut oven chips and two varieties of Tescos posh quiche (cheese and onione, cheese and pepper).  I really liked this salad.
