There are many different types of cheese.  Hundreds and thousands of different types of cheese. But in any supermarket, there is a whole deal of shelf space given over to fake cheese. If you want Irish, Scottish, Australian, Canadian, Welsh, cheese, fine: I hear they even make cheese in France.  But cheddar cheese is only made in Somerset, and if the label on the  packet says it was made anywhere that is not in Somerset , the cheese inside is not cheddar.  Don’t buy it. It is an abomination in the sight of God. And an insult to good cheesemakers. And, of course, Somerset.

Here I would like to recommend Tesco Finest Farmhouse Handmade Vintage Cheddar. It carries a protected designation of origin label.  It tastes like cheddar. It is delicious.  It is the real thing.
