We gave her a fairy princess party. She picked five little girls to invite, took five invitations to school. One mum never got the invitation, one mum did, but never replied but the little girl came anyway, one little girl whose mum I don’t know didn’t reply or come. I still find this modern-day lack of manners most perplexing, but there you go. We had four little girls running around, shrieking, enjoying silly party games and having a whale of a time, and everyone was happy. (also, jelly and ice cream is not universally liked; I suppose it is not so much the party treat any more).
