This had brown rice and kidney beans, so I thought it would be excessively virtuous, but it also had vinaigrette, dried apricots, raisins, basil and walnuts.  I put more of dried fruit than it said, and cooked the brown rice for a long time, with the kidney beans out of the tin in with the rice for some of the time as well, as I don’t like kidney beans that have been tipped in straight from the tin.  It was actually quite nice.  It is really the kind of recipe you should add extras to, though, such as spicy relish, or sausages (Sam nicked the sausage).  I had some for lunch, with cheese.  Hannah tried a kidney bean but didn’t like it. Sam didn’t want it (but he likes making vinaigrette). John has the rest for lunch tomorrow.
