The recipe was for a modest amount of pumpkin or winter squash. John bought me a butternut squash of generous proportions, so I decided to put the whole lot in. This was a good thing, because the resulting soup (onion, squash, home-made chicken stock, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice) became thick and rich, as a result.
Peas are still disgusting, but Sam and John like the things for some obscure reason. This is made with Birds Eye petit pois, I think, and proper home-made chicken stock, and has a little lime juice added. John sieved it and pronounced it fine. I attempted to garnish it with a mint leaf, but the mint sank into the soup. It is not one of those filling pea souper soups you can get, just a pea-flavoured vegetable soup. I think I would like it, if I liked peas.
