Today I downloaded some freeware: it is an add-on to Microsoft Excel (other spreadsheets exist), and although I don’t much use Excel, I thought it looked useful. Find it at: http://www.dom-and-lis.co.uk/.
James, the brother of John, son of Zebedee (joint nickname: sons of thunder); originally a fisherman, present at some key points in the gospel, e.g. the transfiguration, mentioned in the garden of gethsamene), killed by Herod (not personally, I presume). Big church to St James in Compostella.
Not sure of appropriate celebrations. Fish supper? Fishcakes? Happy feast day if it’s your feast day.
Sam has a brand new bicycle (with stabilizers) now. This is his first bicycle (although he has a trike and a scooter), and we actually went to a real bicycle shop for it, and everything. Isn’t he doing well?
is cutting her top canines. She has been fetching John’s slippers for quite a while now…
Because Sam’s old nursery and new school are having the builders in, they have extended holidays, and because the reception year don’t all start on the same day, it ends up that summer holidays in our house start tomorrow (today at 3:15 pm, if you want to get picky) and stretch for 8 weeks and 2 days, until the 14th Sept. It’s as if there’s a huge abyss of hectic riotous days looming ahead of me. At least last year they both had one nap a day, until nearly the end of August, and there was usually some sort of overlap.
Still, one day at a time: tomorrow morning it’s Mums and Tots with party food at snack time.
Or friggatriskaidekaphobia if you prefer. I don’t normally notice Friday 13th, but it just so happens I’m having a bad day. And it is raining, so we can’t even go to the park.
I made a yummy drink by blending 11 blackberries, about 2 tablespoons (estimated) greek-style thick yoghourt and 1 coconut-flavour aptimel (other brands are available).
A bit too much coconut to blackberry, perhaps more blackberries, or a different aptimel-type drink. But a very nice variation on lassi. Warning: does contain pips, you’d have to strain, or use a blender with a built in strainer, if you didn’t want them.
Today is 7/7/7: nearly forgot to notice.
Dodgy internet connection gave up when John ‘fixed’ it; invested in new router. Finally reconnected. Definitely dependant on internet stuff, although have a good excuse, since I need it for work.
I made a new friend on the internet (the modern alternative to finding a pen pal). We had lunch. It was very civilized: my mother and her parents were there. She is the very lovely
, who is living somewhere in Manchester. I still don’t know where, mind like one of those things you drain vegetables in.
