In October 2008, I embarked on a cookbook adventure:
I looked at all the cookbooks on the shelf and decided that I would work completely through one book, making every single recipe in order, but not setting any time limits.

Some recipes were made at the rate of one a day, there were gaps of months between some recipes, but I finally finished today.
I think, on the whole, that it was a good idea. I tried new recipes, some of which I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, such as home-made mayonnaise and summer pudding. I remembered old classics. I tried foods I thought I wouldn’t like and found that they weren’t nearly so disgusting. And I learnt some fantastic new recipes that I hope to make again. In fact, one or two of the recipes are already firm favourites.
