Judas began to look for a way to betray him to them without the people knowing…
I also seem to remember something about people used to have their chimneys swept (to be ready for Easter).

Should definitely be renamed. The weather was all nice and warm and sunny and spring-like, then the clocks went forward, and now it’s freezing, wet, snow on the hills, and thoroughly miserable…

From one extreme to another in the course of a Mass. Hannah took her palm tree that she had made at school. I learnt St Luke’s passion at school; the words are still familiar, although I don’t know if I could recite it nowadays.

or The feast of the Annunciation, obviously because Christmas is nine months away exactly (although a normal term pregnancy is in fact 9 months and a bit). What with the precession of the earth, this used to be the date of the vernal equinox, and became one of the quarter days. So a good day for paying debts, and such like.
Prayers: the Angelus, the mystery of the rosary, the Hail Mary
Music: anything with bells, or based on or about the angelus or the hail mary
Flowers: yes, lilies? blue, white or gold flowers.

which some people think is the beginning of Spring, which is obviously not true, as the latitude and climate determine the seasons, not the date. No, it is in fact a moment in time, more precisely defined as when the earth is tilted neither towards the sun nor away from it, but when people say equinox, they usually mean the day on which this happens. Anyway, it is a good excuse to feel more spring-like and buy spring flowers, and that sort of thing.

inWhich included leeks, and I added a bit of bacon, but not enough. The recipe called for potatoes in 1 inch thick slices, but they should be not more than half an inch thick. Also, it would have been better if the leeks had been fried before hand. Otherwise, it was quite tasty, although nothing to write home about.

inMade with a modest quantity of white cabbage. Sam thought it should have cheese in it, so I put cheese in it. I was a bit wussy with the frying, so my attempt was a bit squooshy, while John’s was in neat browned cakes. We had it with tomato ketchup. Either way, they were delicious. Sam ate his. Hannah gingerly tasted some, but wouldn’t eat enough to get her the chocolate I told her she had to eat her dinner first.

I made sure well in advance that my wishes were known: breakfast in bed, and I am going to make a simnel cake. John doesn’t like fruit cake or marzipan, so I could be eating it for a while. I also was lucky enough to have the cards and things they made at school (so now I have two carefully sewn little mats) and chocolate.
